Steel Tube Connectors
Steel tube connectors, also referred to as spider clips, are designed to install into a hole in work or inside a tube end in round, square, rectangular and oval tube. They provide a female threaded opening to thread a male stud into for a variety of applications, including connecting a tube to something else.
After the part is installed into the tube and the male stud is tightened, the edge of the clips dig into the steel tube wall to hold the tube connector in place. It is an economical way to connect parts without welding.
Tube connectors typically consist of two round,heat-treated spring steel retaining clips that are assembled to a female threaded nut with a clip assembled on each end of the female threaded nut. We stock parts to fit in from 5/8” to 2”+OD (outside diameter) round and square tube and from 10 to 20 gauge tube with 1/4-20, 5/16-18. 3/8-16, M6 and M8 female thread. Other English and Metric thread sizes and left-handed thread are available, as well as tube connectors with a male threaded stud.
The heat-treated spring steel retaining clips also come in a square shape for better holing power in square tubing and are available in rectangular and oval shapes to work in rectangular and oval tubes.
The female nuts are typically 1/4” and 3/8” long, but are available in longer lengths. The longer the length of the nut, the larger the spacing is between the two retaining clips, which increases the stability of the tube connector.
We can also supply tube connectors with 3+ clips for increased strength, holding power and stability. Many non-stock parts are available as well.
